Charges against a Mahoning Township man who allegedly forced a woman to strip and then threatened her with a machete have been bound over to Carbon County Court.

Cory Hunsicker, 41, of the 800 block of North First Street, was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Eric Schrantz of Jim Thorpe.

Instead, Hunsicker waived his right to the hearing and will have his case heard Sept. 27 before the Carbon County Court of Common Pleas.

Hunsicker faces charges of terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another, unlawful restraint/serious bodily injury, false imprisonment, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Corey Frey of the Mahoning Township Police Department:

At 9 p.m. July 5, Frey was met at the station by the victim, who was visibly upset and wanted to report an assault.

She said that at 3:45 p.m. that day, she went to Hunsicker’s house.

The woman said she was supposed to be meeting a friend there, but the friend asked her to make sure Hunsicker was home before she came.

She told Frey that she was at Hunsicker’s residence for about a half-hour before realizing her friend was not coming.

The woman said that she told Hunsicker that she was going to leave and go home because her friend was no longer coming.

She said Hunsicker stood up and said that she could not leave, and that he made a comment about money being missing and that she most likely had something to do with it.

The woman said that Hunsicker told her that he was going to strip search her and to start undressing, but that she was scared and uncomfortable because of self-esteem issues which she mentioned to him.

She said that Hunsicker told her it was not the time to worry about that and to take off her shirt, but she said she was scared, so she did take her clothes off.

The woman said that she stood in the room for awhile naked and asked Hunsicker if she could get dressed, to which he said “no.”

She said at this point, Hunsicker was talking crazy, making statements about how everyone is out to get him and that she is in on it.

The woman said that Hunsicker pulled a machete out along, with a powered sharpener and started to sharpen the machete.

She said that Hunsicker continued to tell her that he isn’t letting her leave and that she’d better stop whispering with the people in the house.

The woman said that there was no one else in the house at this time, and that after Hunsicker was done with the sharpener, he started stabbing his bed and going through his rooms looking for people he thought she was talking to.

She said that Hunsicker made the comment that she’d better watch before he stabs her like he did another female who he said needed 14 stitches.

The woman said that by this point hours had passed and she was trying to think of how she could get out of the house.

She said that eventually her mother came to the house looking for her at 8:30 p.m., and that is when Hunsicker let her leave.

The woman provided a written statement to that effect, and said that she wanted Hunsicker arrested for the incident.

Hunsicker has been returned to the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 straight bail.

Hunsicker was already imprisoned in lieu of $20,000 straight bail on one charge and $10,000 straight bail on the other charge.
