The Schuylkill County Emergency Management Agency advises that due to conditions at the Moon Lake Dam, also known as Beury's Grove, in Barry Township, the public should avoid the area downstream of the dam, county Emergency Management Coordinator John Matz said Wednesday.

The area includes Acorn Drive, Lake Drive, Rosie's Lane (F-408), the intersection of Rosie's Lane (F-408) and Beury's Road (T-601) and Mill Lane (T403).

The operator of Moon Lake has initiated their dam emergency action plan by notifying the Schuylkill County Emergency Management Agency.  

Schuylkill County EMA makes the initial notifications to municipalities, emergency services, school districts, state agencies and the news media.  

The dam owner/operator will begin surveillance of the site to determine the need for further action, such as evacuation or termination of the alert.
