Crashes in Monroe County

State police at Stroudsburg reported on the following incidents.

• Brian M. McKee, 19, of Kunkletown, was cited for following too closely after a two-vehicle crash at 12:41 p.m. May 16 on Route 447 (Independence Road) in Smithfield Township. State police said he was driving a 2001 Ford Taurus that struck a 2010 Dodge Charger operated by Dillon S. Murphy, 22, of East Stroudsburg.

Police said both vehicles west westbound on Independence Road when Murphy slowed down as a vehicle in front of him was making a left turn off the road when the Charger was struck from behind. The Taurus sustained disabling damages and needed to be towed from the scene. The Charger received minor damages. Police said Murphy suffered “suspected minor injuries” and was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg, by the Bushkill Ambulance Corps.

• State police said a BMW vehicle struck a deer that entered its path around 6:30 a.m. May 21 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township. Police did not identify the driver of the vehicle, but said the vehicle was westbound when the deer entered the roadway and the driver was unable to stop, striking it. The vehicle traveled several feet down the road before coming to rest. The driver was not injured.
