W. Penn police department gets $30K grant

West Penn Township’s Police Department has received a grant in the amount of $30,000.

On a 2-0 vote, supervisors on Monday morning adopted a resolution regarding the grant. Supervisor Timothy Houser was absent.

The grant came from an anonymous donor, according to board Chairman Tony Prudenti.

Prudenti accepted the funds on behalf of the township, with township treasurer Karen Wittig certifying that.

Township police Chief Brian Johnson said the department will use the funds for equipment for the cars.

“Right now, that’s what we’re looking at,” Johnson said.
