St. Luke’s Gnaden Huetten campus Safe Sitter course

St. Luke’s Gnaden Huetten Campus will offer a Safe Sitter course from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July 20 in the ground-floor community room at the Gnaden Huetten Campus, 211 N. 12th St. in Lehighton.

Safe Sitter is designed to prepare students in grades six to eight to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or baby-sitting.

All information is taught by trained Safe Sitter instructors. The class is filled with fun games and role playing exercises.

In addition, students will receive hands-on practice in basic lifesaving techniques, including chocking rescue skills, so they are prepared to act in a crisis; child care; and life and business tips that will make them more confident caregivers.

The cost is $36 and includes all resource materials and supplies, including the student handbook, a Safe Sitter drawstring bag, Bandage dispenser, LED flashlight, important information notepad, completion card, snacks and lunch. Space is limited and registration and prepayment are required. The deadline to register is July 2.

To register your son or daughter for the Safe Sitter course, call community education at St. Luke’s Gnaden Huetten campus at 610-377-7070.
