May 1, 1972 — Seven different Slatington athletes register individual firsts to offset the three wins by Pleasant Valley’s Mitch Overbeck and claim an 84-29 track and field victory. The Bulldogs receive three firsts on the track from Terry Wertman (880), Rich Oertner (mile) and Walt Roland (two-mile). In field events, Bob Evans (shot) and Gary Papay (discus) capture throwing events, while Tom Harding takes the triple jump and Robin Reinhart wins the pole vault. PV’s Overbeck wins the 100 and 220, and sets a new Slatington field record in the high jump at 6-1.
