Police capture pair on multiple charges

A man and a woman on the run for nearly a week were captured by police and have been slapped with a host of charges.

According to a joint news release issued by Jim Thorpe Police and Nesquehoning Police departments, at 7:20 p.m. March 14, the Jim Thorpe Police Department was assisting the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office with a drug investigation.

During the course of the investigation, Jim Thorpe Police encountered a suspicious Dodge Stratus with stolen Pennsylvania registration.

The defendant, identified as Eric Pauloski, 37, of Albrightsville, attempted to strike a police officer with his vehicle.

Pauloski then struck a parked Toyota Corolla and fled the scene.

Officers attempted to stop Pauloski’s vehicle, but he was able to get away.

Several minutes later, Pauloski was spotted on Route 209 in Nesquehoning by Nesquehoning Police.

Pauloski fled north on Route 93, before turning left onto Adventure Lane.

He attempted to elude Nesquehoning officers before crashing his vehicle along the access road to the Whitewater Rafting Adventures near the railroad tracks.

Pauloski then ran off, breaking into the rafting center and stealing items.

Officers from Lansford, Summit Hill and Weatherly assisted in trying to locate Pauloski.

The following week, on March 20, the United States Marshal’s Service, Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, and Jim Thorpe Police captured Pauloski at a residence in Bowmanstown.

Captured along with Pauloski was Christy Hartman, 29, of Franklin Township, who had been the subject of the drug investigation on March 14 in Jim Thorpe.

Pauloski was charged by Jim Thorpe Police for aggravated assault on a police officer, criminal conspiracy, criminal use of a communication facility, fleeing or attempting to elude police, two counts of simple assault, receiving stolen property, driving without headlights to avoid identification or arrest, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to stop to give information and render aid, accidents involving damage to an unattended vehicle or property, counts of stops signs and yield signs, required financial responsibility, and registration and certificate of title.

Nesquehoning Police have charged Pauloski with burglary, fleeing or attempting to elude police officers, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, two counts of criminal trespass, driving without lights to avoid identification or arrest, no passing zones, reckless driving, careless driving, and unauthorized transfer or use of a registration.

Pauloski was arraigned before Magistrate Casimir T. Kosciolek of Lansford. Bail was set at $200,000 straight for each set of charges.

He is currently in the Carbon County Correctional Facility.

Hartman was charged with possession with intent to deliver, criminal attempt, two counts of criminal conspiracy, escape, criminal use of a communication facility, theft by unlawful taking, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was arraigned before Kosciolek, with bail being set at $200,000.
