Internationally acclaimed musician to present concert in Allentown

Internationally acclaimed concert organist Nathan Laube will present a concert at 3 p.m. March 25 First Presbyterian Church of Allentown, 3231 Tilghman St., Allentown, as part of the Gloria S. Snyder Concert Series. Admission is free to the public, and there will be a freewill offering.

Laube is assistant professor of organ at the Eastman School of Music. He has an extensive recital career spanning four continents, as well as being International Consultant in Organ Studies at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, UK.

The numerous major venues where he has performed include Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles; Verizon Hall, Philadelphia; Washington National Cathedral, King’s College Chapel, Cambridge; Berlin Cathedral; Vienna Konzerthaus and many more.

Laube also performs frequently at conventions and conferences, including those of the Organ Historical Society and the American Guild of Organists. Many of his live performances have been featured on American Public Media’s “Pipedreams.”

Besides his teaching at Eastman School of Music (and master classes in the United States and Europe), he also often serves on the faculty for Pipe Organ Encounters around the United States, and he has taught at the Oberlin Summer Organ Academy and at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts Summer Organ Academy in Philadelphia.

The organ at First Presbyterian Church of Allentown is a very fine 58 rank Austin, built in 1958. The tonal flexibility of this instrument allows a wide range of repertoire to be performed. Laube will present works by J.S. Bach, Charles-Marie Widor, Felix Mendelssohn, Jean-Philippe Rameau, and Maurice Durufle.
