Yudichak to make good on pledge to walk all 165 miles of D&L Trail

The Philadelphia Eagles did their part by winning the Super Bowl.

Now with the ball firmly in his court, state Sen. John Yudichak plans to stay true to his word.

Yudichak, who represents the 14th senatorial District that covers Carbon and Luzerne counties, has been a fan of the Eagles since his boyhood.

A die-hard Eagles fan, Yudichak said he made a pledge the Friday before the Super Bowl.

“I was with DCNR secretary Cindy Dunn and Elisa Garofalo of the D&L Trail, and I made a commitment, I made a pledge, that if the Eagles won the Super Bowl, I would walk all 165 miles of the beautiful Delaware & Lehigh Trail,” Yudichak said.

The Eagles won the contest 41-33.

“Now, I gotta take a hike,” said Yudichak, who intends to map out a strategy for his trek along the scenic trail that he will embark on in the summer.

While that may seem like a tough row to hoe, Yudichak insists he hasn’t bitten off more than he can chew.

“I’m looking forward to it,” he said. “I go to the gym about six days a week.”

Yudichak touted the trail for its vital role in the communities it passes through.

“The D&L is a terrific amenity,” he said. “I want to raise awareness of how important the D&L Trail is.”

Much like his beloved Eagles did before him, Yudichak said he plans to fulfill his commitment.

“The Eagles held up their end of the bargain,” he said. “I’m going to uphold my end of the bargain.”

Does that make Yudichak a crazy Eagles fan?

Perhaps more like just a little crazy.
