Bennett petitions for parking variance

A zoning hearing concerning properties owned by Joe Bennett was continued following Tuesday night’s meeting in Palmerton.

Bennett had submitted a variance related to the 5-foot buffer area along the rear alley of 555 Delaware Ave, which houses Blue Mountain Medical Practice Laboratory Services and Dunkin’ Donuts.

The buffer area is required under a section of the Palmerton Borough Zoning Ordinance.

“We’re looking for a waiver on a partial part of the 5-foot setbacks. They want a 5-foot buffer,” Bennett said. “Our main goal here is to optimize off-street parking so that our neighbors can utilize the street without our clientele parking there.”

The matter has been continued to the March 28 meeting of the zoning hearing board.

Bennett said that he plans to collect more information in anticipation of the meeting.

“We had a very productive meeting, and I appreciate the efforts of the zoning hearing board. We’ll be providing some clarification on our position on March 28,” Bennett said.
