Spaghetti dinner Saturday to benefit local families

A spaghetti dinner will be held for a pair of families who have fallen on hard times.

The basket raffle, bake sale and spaghetti dinner to support the Steets and Crisanti families will be held from 4-7 p.m. Saturday at the West End Fire Company No. 2 in Palmerton. The cost is $8 for adults and $6 for children ages 5-12.

Mary Huber, event organizer, said the event will be held in conjunction with friends and co-workers of Linda Crisanti, an instructional assistant who sustained a work-related injury in late September, and has not yet been released by her physicians to come back to work.

While recovering from her injuries, Crisanti is also caring for her father, Bob Steets, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer within the past few months.

Steets was released from the hospital on Jan. 13, and is receiving hospice comfort care at home.

Linda Steets, Crisanti’s mother, currently receives dialysis treatments twice a week.

Crisanti’s sister, Kristina Steets, suffered life-threatening injuries while working at Celebration Fireworks in Slatington on June 30.

She has been hospitalized since the incident, and is waiting to be transferred to a facility in New York to receive more intensive treatment.

“Needless to say, this family was hit extremely hard in the last few months, and we would like the opportunity to raise some funds for any type of expenses the family may need in the upcoming weeks,” Huber said. “We are grateful for any food or monetary donations, gift cards/baskets, certificates, or any baked goods which can be delivered the day of the event.”

Anyone with questions about the event may contact Huber at 484-629-0317.

Huber said the Crisanti and Steets families thank you in advance for your generous support throughout this difficult time.
