An area woman was the victim of an apparent shooting incident that occurred in Lehigh County on Monday.

State police at Fogelsville said Catherine Zimmerman, 39, of Lehighton, arrived at their barracks at 2:43 p.m. to report that she believed her vehicle was shot while she was traveling along Interstate 78, at Route 22 East, in Upper Macungie Township.

She told troopers she saw a white man operating a black sport utility vehicle that grabbed her attention. At the same time, she heard a loud noise that she believed was something striking her vehicle.

Troopers said her vehicle had damage consistent with being struck by a pellet or BB gun. The investigation is continuing.
