Vehicle stop in Schuylkill leads to drugs and firearms

A vehicle stop in the Schuylkill County borough of Saint Clair led to drugs and firearms being found and the arrest of a county resident.

Borough police said at 8:18 p.m. officers stopped a vehicle along Route 61 in the borough. The driver was identified as Gina Lombardo, 39, of Girardville. Records indicated she had a suspended license.

During the stop her passenger, identified as Charles Raymond Frantz, 25, also of Girardville, was found to be in possession of a substance later identified as heroin. Also located inside the vehicle were several handguns. A .380 caliber handgun located was identified as being reported stolen from Butler Township, Schuylkill County. Ammunition and drug paraphernalia were recovered inside the vehicle.

Frantz admitted in a statement that the drugs and firearms were his. A records check indicated Frantz had an outstanding warrant from Berks County. During the investigation it was determined that Frantz was a felon restricted from carrying firearms. Following the stop the vehicle was towed and impounded.

As a result of the investigation Frantz was charged with felon not to possess firearms, carrying a firearm without a license, receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Frantz was unable to post the $25,000 cash bail set by District Judge James Reiley of Pottsville. He was committed to Schuylkill County prison.

Saint Clair police were assisted during the incident by the Schuylkill County Drug Task Force, state police and Port Carbon police.
