Franklin Twp. business gets green light for convenience store

A Franklin Township business that has worked for years to construct a convenience store on the property is finally getting a green light.

Last week, the Carbon County Planning Commission recommended plan approval for Rockland Energy Inc.’s plan of combining three lots and constructing a 2,260-square-foot convenience store at 85 Interchange Road, Franklin Township.

The plans came before the commission multiple times, receiving plan rejections or conditional plan rejections due to areas of noncompliance that needed to be addressed.

Ivan O. Meixell, county planner, said that the company has addressed the issues and the plan “as submitted conforms to preliminary and/or final plan requirements of the Franklin Township land development ordinances.”

The plans now go before Franklin Township for approval before any work could be done.

The county planning commission also made recommendations on two other plans:

• William T. and Claudia A. Kukol received conditional plan approval for a proposed subdivision at 2101/2109 Quakake Road in Packer Township. The plans call for subdividing a 46.095-acre lot into two lots.

• Cara Serfass and Russell R. and Sandra L. Miller received conditional plan approval for a proposed subdivision/lot line revision at 336/376 Wagner St., Franklin Township. The plans call for subdividing a 6.232-acre lot owned by Serfass into three lots. The third lot — a 0.333-acre lot — would then be combined with two lots owned by the Millers to create a 1.295-acre lot.
