Missing Orwigsburg man found dead

An Orwigsburg man reported missing last month was found dead Friday.

Israel Sky Whalen, 23, was reported missing Nov. 10 after going to lunch at Red Robin in South Middleton Township, Cumberland County.

State police Trooper Brent Miller, public information officer for Troop H, Harrisburg, confirmed Friday that Whalen was found dead in Cumberland County but offered no other information.

Miller said additional information will be made available by the Cumberland County Coroner's Office, but they revealed no further information Friday night.

Although Miller did not offer details on the death of Whalen, he did say it is not being considered suspicious. State police Trooper Justin R. Achenbach of the Carlisle station, the original investigating officer, said Whalen was reported missing about 1 p.m. Nov. 10 after he went to lunch at Red Robin and did not return.

Whalen was last seen leaving the restaurant parking lot wearing a dark blue, short sleeve T-shirt with a light gray long sleeve T-shirt underneath and dark blue pants, the trooper said.

"Whalen is considered to be a danger to himself," Achenbach said at the time of the original report. As attempts to look for Whalen continued, the man was apparently seen in Schuylkill County the following day.

Orwigsburg police said that Whalen sighted in the borough about 1 p.m. Nov. 11 in the area of Lee Street.

Police said Whalen resided in the Pine Brook area but also listed an address in the Hazleton area. Orwigsburg police said they are working with state police from Carlisle on the case.
