Stress-reducing lunch and crafts

New Seasons at Blue Mountain Health System will hold its annual Holiday Stress Reducing Lunch and Crafts event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Blue Mountain Bowmanstown Medical Plaza, 512 Bank St. in Bowmanstown

If you want to save money and add more meaning to the holiday season, why not craft your own gifts? An added bonus is that crafting can be of help to people who suffer from anxiety or depression.

The process of working with one’s hands focuses the mind, eases stress and can increase happiness. It’s thought that when we’re being creative, our brains release dopamine, a natural antidepressant.

Art therapist Kathy Karanink will guide you on step-by-step projects you can create during the day’s session and a variety of projects you can make at home.

A program fee of $20 per person includes lunch, educational session and all arts and crafts supplies. You’re welcome to bring some of your own supplies, including scissors and a glue gun.

Class size is limited and preregistration and prepayment are required.
