Hearing set for woman who spat in face of nurse

A hearing has been scheduled for a Monroe County woman who spat in the face of a nurse who attempted to treat her.

Hannah Word, 23, of Gilbert, faces a charge of aggravated harassment by a prisoner.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Detective Michael Kreischer of the Monroe County Office of the District Attorney:

On Oct. 24, Word was confined as an inmate of the Monroe County Correctional Facility.

At 2:20 a.m., a nurse was attempting to assess her medical needs when Word spat at her, causing her saliva to land on the nurse’s face.

Word was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge JoLana Krawitz of Stroudsburg and remanded to the Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 bail.

She is currently free after posting bail.

Word is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. Jan. 5 before Krawitz.
