Nequehoning man threatens to kill wife

A Nesquehoning man is facing multiple charges after he assaulted and then threatened to kill his wife.

Christopher M. Lower, 37, of West Mill Street faces charges of intimidating the victim, terroristic threats, simple assault and two counts harassment following two incidents in the last two months.

According to the affidavit, on Oct. 12, the victim arrived at the Nesquehoning police station to report Lower had threatened her and said she had a recording of him threatening her life on her tablet.

She played the recording for officer Richard Neikam in which Lower threatened the victim multiple times, threatening to stab her. Neikam learned that the recording was taken on Sept. 29, a few days after police were called to the couple’s home for a simple assault case.

In that case, the victim had bruises and marks on her side, shoulder, wrists and forearms and said that Lower had beaten her up and had voicemails from Lower cursing her out. At that time, police could locate Lower.

In the Oct. 12 case, the victim told police that he was allowed to be at the residence and police advised her to get a protection from abuse order against Lower.

Neikam then went to the residence and found Lower sleeping on the couch.

He was brought back to the police station and admitted that he was the person on the recording, but said that he did not mean it.

Lower was charged on Oct. 29 and then arraigned before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek for the first case involving the assault on the victim.

He faces preliminary hearings for both cases on Nov. 8.

Lower is unable to post bail and is in the Carbon County Correctional Facility.
