Schuylkill County commissioners on Wednesday renewed for an additional three years the lease on the office now housing District Judge Stephen Bayer in Tamaqua.

The 2,094 square feet office is at the rear of 320 East Broad St.

The lease is from Jan. 1, 2018 through Dec. 31, 2022.

The monthly rent is $2,006, which is $11.50 per square foot.

That’s 20 cents per square foot more than the last contract.

In other matters, commissioners approved the termination of 911 center telecommunication trainee Troy Troup Jr. of Minersville, effective Nov. 1.

They also approved a contract with Satellite Tracking of People LLC, Houston, Texas to provide electronic monitoring services for one year for the Adult Probation Office.

The contract, which is based on a fee for service schedule, is effective Oct. 26 through Oct. 26, 2018, said Deputy Chief Probation Officer Neil Stefanisko.

Commissioners also approved a $30,061 change order with Lehigh Asphalt Paving And Construction Co. Inc. for work on the county bridge in Hubley Township.

The total contract now comes to $377,634.

The change order was due to additional sandblasting and quantity balancing from the initial contract.

Also on Wednesday, commissioners issued a proclamation recognizing “Schuylkill County Farm/City Week”

The next commissioners’ public meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9.

The courthouse will be closed on Tuesday for election day, Tuesday.
