Weissport says it will enforce winter parking rules this year

The first frost of the year arrived Wednesday night, and Weissport Borough Council knows that winter weather might not be too far away.

Arland Moyer, vice president of the council, said the borough is going to install signs with winter parking regulations, and they will be enforced this year.

“We didn’t enforce it before,” he said, but said this year fines will be levied on violators. He indicated some vehicle owners who defy the rules could have their cars towed.

Moyer said compliance hastens the snow removal.

The rules come into effect when 4 inches or more of snow falls.

Parking is prohibited on the odd-numbered side of the streets on odd calendar days and on even-numbered side of the streets on even calendar days.

He said signs indicating the parking regulations will be installed by the end of this week.
