A Carbon County woman admitted on Thursday her part in the use of a stolen credit card and was immediately sentenced to a prison term.

Amy L. Steigerwalt, 31, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of receiving stolen property before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II and was sentenced to serve two to 12 months in the county prison.

Steigerwalt admitted her part in the use of a stolen credit card on June 4 charged by Lehighton police. A borough woman’s purse was taken and a credit card removed.

It was used at two separate locations. There is a co-defendant in the case.

Steigerwalt at first denied that she knew the card was stolen, but then did admit she knew the card was stolen when it was used at two county stores.

She said she was using methamphetamine at the time of the incident.

Steigerwalt is currently an inmate in the county prison on a probation violation petition filed by the adult probation office.

Nanovic also ordered her to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole.

She was given credit for 15 days spent in jail on the charge.
