Shinedown frontman, guitarist coming to the Sherman
Smith & Myers is an acoustic side project from Shinedown frontman Brent Smith and guitarist Zach Myers. The project was born when the Florida band’s marketing rep at Atlantic Records suggested they hold a contest online where fans would submit songs they’d like to hear the band cover acoustically. They received a huge response, eventually whittling down the submissions to an initial six, with four more to be revealed at a later date.
Accompanied by YouTube videos of the two musicians performing each song, the (Acoustic Sessions) EP was released in early 2014 under the name Smith & Myers. Some of the songs included in the project are the Clash’s “London Calling,” Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters,” and Soul Asylum’s “Runaway Train.”
Smith & Myers will perform at the Sherman Theater, 524 Main St., Stroudsburg, on Dec. 6 with special guests JR Moore and Zack Mack. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m.
Tickets are available online at shermantheater.com and ticketfly.com, and at the Sherman Theater box office at 570-420-2808.
