Schuylkill County court - guilty pleas

A McAdoo man will serve state time for having a prescription drug he was not authorized to have, and for trying to pass a counterfeit $20 bill.

Kevin W. Black Jr.,20, was charged by McAdoo police on March 16, 2016, with having Xanax for which he did not have a prescription, and by Kline Township police with passing a counterfeit bill on Nov. 4, 2016.He admitted to the possession and attempted forgery before Schuylkill County Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin.A charge of attempted theft by deception was dropped.Dolbin sentenced Black to six to 24 months.The judge also accepted pleas from three other local people.John P. Wagner,39, of Summit Hill, was charged by Tamaqua police on March 25, 2015, with possession of a controlled substance and driving with a suspended license.He pleaded guilty to the possession charge; the license charge was dropped.Dolbin asked for a presentence investigation before imposing Wagner's punishment at 11 a.m. Oct. 16.Alnaldo Perez-Rodriguez,31, of Lehighton, was charged by Shenandoah police with conspiracy, carrying a firearm without a license, corruption of minors, unlawful restraint and simple assault on Dec. 19, 2016.He pleaded guilty, and Dolbin sentenced him to 21 to 72 months in state prison.Eugene D. Moerder Jr.,41, of Tamaqua, was charged by state police at Schuylkill Haven with driving under the influence, and failing to obey a stop sign, driving under suspension, careless driving, restrictions on alcoholic beverages, and failing to use a safety belt - driver and vehicle occupant, on May 25, 2016.He pleaded to the DUI and stop sign charges. The others were dropped.Dolby sentenced Moerder to 10 days in jail followed by 40 days on house arrest with electronic monitoring, followed by 40 days under strict supervision.He'll then serve three months on probation.Dolby also fined Moerder $775, and ordered him to perform 20 hours of community service.Judge James P. Goodman accepted a guilty plea from a McAdoo man in three cases.Thomas J. Gaughan Sr.,55, of McAdoo, was charged by borough police with terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another, simple assault, resisting arrest, harassment, criminal mischief - damage property, harassment - subject other to physical contact, disorderly conduct - engage in fighting, and disorderly conduct - unreasonable noise, public drunkenness, and aggravated assault after he threatened a police officer and damaged his car on Feb. 18.Vaughn was also charged with defiant trespass and disorderly conduct on Oct. 9, 2016, and with making two false reports on Oct. 16, 2016.He pleaded guilty to defiant trespass, terroristic threats, resisting arrest and criminal mischief, and making a false report.The other charges were dropped.Goodman sentenced Gaughan to time served to 23 months in jail with immediate parole.He also was ordered to serve 12 months on probation, and to pay $714 restitution.Judge Jacqueline L. Russell accepted pleas from two local people.Trisha M. Fetterhoff,28, of New Ringgold, was charged by the Schuylkill County District Attorney's office with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.Russell sentenced her to 24 months on probation and to perform 40 hours of community service.An additional two counts each of delivery of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and a count of conspiracy were dropped.Tyler J. Frantz,26, of Lansford, was charged by Coaldale police with driving under the influence, DUI: high rate of alcohol, two counts of DUI - controlled substance, a count of DUI under a combination of drugs and alcohol, two counts of disorderly conduct, disregarding traffic lanes, fail to keep right, careless driving, terroristic threats and reckless driving on July 9, 2016.He pleaded guilty to the charge of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, disorderly conduct, disregarding traffic lanes and failing to keep right.The reckless driving and threats charges were withdrawn in district court; the remaining charges were dropped in plea negotiations.Russell sentenced him to 72 hours to six months in jail, fined him $1,150, and ordered him to perform 20 hours of community service.
