Homeowners who have property in the path of the proposed PennEast/UGI pipeline are invited to attend a meeting at 7 p.m. today at the Towamensing Township offices at 120 Stable Road, Lehighton.

The meeting is organized by two concerned citizens' group, Save Carbon County, and Homeowners Against Land Takings. Attorney Peter Carfley, of Lavery Law, will explain the next steps in the pipeline process and will answer questions.Information on the rights of property owners, and the Eminent Domain process will be provided at the meetings. There will also be information about the continued fight to stop the pipeline.Property owners are urged to bring their latest easement offer from pipeline land agents to the meeting.Save Carbon County spokesperson Linda Christman explained, "With federal approval of the pipeline expected any day, homeowners need to be informed and prepared to protect their rights as property owners."When the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issues their approval of the PennEast/UGI pipeline, the pipeline company will be authorized to use Eminent Domain to obtain pipeline easements, even if the property owner objects."The pipeline still needs critical approvals from state and regional agencies. FERC approval does not mean that the pipeline will be built." Christman said.
