Marian school year underway

The new school year is underway at Marian High School in Hometown.

Orientation Day for ninth-grade students was held on Aug. 28, while students in grades 10 through 12 began classes on Aug. 29.The orientation familiarized new students with each other, the school, teachers, administration, counselor and school staff. Student Council members were available to assist students throughout the day.This year's enrollment is 300 according to Susie Gerhard, Director of Advancement. The breakdown by grades is ninth, 66; 10th, 88; 11th, 70; and 76 members of the Class of 2018."Back to School Night" will be heldbeginning at 6:30 p.m. today when parents can tour the school and meet the faculty and staff.Marian High School serves families and students of all faith from: Albrightsville, Andreas, Ashland, Barnesville, Beaver Meadows, Brockton, Coaldale, Conyngham, Drums, Frackville, Freeland, Hazleton, Hometown, Jim Thorpe, Kelayres, Kresgeville, Lake Harmony, Lansford, Lehighton, Mahanoy City, McAdoo, Middleport, Nesquehoning, New Ringgold, Palmerton, Ringtown, Shenandoah, Sheppton, Sugarloaf, Summit Hill, Tamaqua, Tresckow, Weatherly, White Haven and Zion Grove.Tours and visitation days are also available at any time to learn the advantages of a Catholic education. Scholarships and financial aid/tuition assistance programs are available.Open House will be held on Jan. 28, 2018, at the school campus.
