Syringe found in lot results in drug charges

A Coaldale man faces a drug charge after drug paraphernalia was found in the parking lot of Redner's Warehouse Market in Nesquehoning.

Anthony Hill, 28, of Second Street, faces one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.On July 20, Nesquehoning police was contacted by an employee of Redner's, saying that there was a syringe and spoon lying in the parking lot next to a vehicle.Officer Richard Neikam met with the employee and saw the syringe and spoon right outside the vehicle, the affidavit states.The employee told Neikam that the people with that vehicle were currently in the check-out line.Neikam spoke with the three occupants, one later identified as Hill, and they all denied knowing anything about the drug paraphernalia.The owner then gave Neikam permission to search the vehicle and found a wax packet of heroin on the passenger back seat in plain sight.Neikam asked the driver who was sitting in that seat, and she answered that it was Hill.Hill admitted that the paraphernalia was his.He was told a drug charge would be filed and was released.Hill now faces a preliminary hearing before Judge Casimir Kosciolek at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
