Lehighton state police

State police at Lehighton have reported on the following incidents.

• Shawn M. Berger, 33, of Palmerton, was driving a 2016 Laramie westbound onSpringhouse Lane in Lower Towamensing Township when his vehicle struck recycling containers that were placed at the end of a driveway. The incident happened at 7:59 p.m. July 11. The containers were pushed forward, striking a 2006 Ford F150 owned by Brian T. Keenly, 42, of Palmerton. Police said Berger failed to stop at the scene and was cited for accidents involving damage to an unattended vehicle or property.• A Ross Township businessman reported the license plate on his vehicle is missing. The incident happened between July 5-11on Mount Eaton Road in the township. Police said the victim believed the plate rusted off and may be on the side of the road somewhere.• A 62-year-old man from Penn Forest Township is the victim of identity theft. Police said the incidents happened between June 23 and July 11 when a company based out of Chicago, had taken money from his account and from a Walmart gift card.• State police are investigating a theft from a motor vehicle that happened between 1 and 8 p.m. July 9 and Route 903 in Penn Forest Township. The victim, a 27-year-old man from Jersey City, New Jersey, reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole an Apple iPhone 7 and a brown designer wallet.• State police were summoned to a simple assault case at 7 p.m. July 16on Wild Creek Drive in Penn Forest Township, after two brothers got into a verbal and physical altercation. The 35-year-old victim from Jim Thorpe did not want to press charges against his 40-year-old brother, who is also from Jim Thorpe. No charges were filed due to the victim not cooperating with them after they responded to the incident.• State police are investigating a criminal mischief incident in which someone used an air rifle to damage a car in Bowmanstown sometime between noon and 2 p.m., July 7. The victimsaid about $200 worth of damage resulted after the incident in the 700 block of Oak Street.
