Students from St. Joseph's University are taking part in an independent research program for 10 weeks. Amanda Hoag, an interdisciplinary health services major from Effort, and Elise Brutschea, a chemistry major from Bethlehem, are both taking part in the program.
The program, in its 12th year, began in May and offers students the opportunity to work on independent study projects until August. Students can choose a subject in their area of study or outside of it and work with a faculty member who supervises the projects. This year 52 faculty members are participating and representing 22 disciplines.Participants are offered a $3,200 stipend and subsidized housing on campus at the university. At the conclusion of the program the participants are encouraged to showcase their work and research throughout the following academic year.
