The second annual Tamaqua Community Empty Bowl Dinner will feature 11 soups from Tamaqua area restaurants. Four additional businesses will also be participating.
The event will be held from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greenwood and Mauch Chunk streets in Tamaqua.Participants include: Basile's, Beacon Diner, Boyer's Market, Heisler's Dairy Bar, La Dolce Casa, M & I Deli, Nancy's Meat Market, Schick's Cafe, Senape's Bakery, Serina's Bakery, Sisters Restaurant and Cantina, Skipper Dippers, Train Station Restaurant and Two Kings Pizzeria.Diners will choose one of three options - a soup pass for $5, which allows the holder to choose one bowl of soup from those offered; a Super Soup Pass for $10, which allows a diner to sample as many soups as they wish; and a Super Soup Bowl Pass for $15, which allows as many soup samplings as desired along with a hand crafted bowl to take home. All passes include bread, dessert and a beverage. There is a limit of 60 Super Soup Bowl passes.The dinner is being hosted by Zion's Outreach Team and is one of the events planned for the Tamaqua Community Hunger Weekend is a project of the Tamaqua Area Faith and Fellowship Network, a 501c3 nonprofit under the umbrella of the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership.
