Fire victim remembered

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Those were among the many positive qualities Conchita Perschy exemplified throughout her life.Perschy lost her life Wednesday night after a horrific fire broke out at her Lower Towamensing Township home at 335 Gap Road.Troopers said Perschy, 81, was found inside the home by firefighters as they were extinguishing the fire.She lived alone. Her husband, James, passed away in November.Bill George, fire chief, Aquashicola Volunteer Fire Company, said the fire was fully involved when firefighters responded to the scene.Rose Perschy described her mother as a hard worker.“She was kind of tough as nails,” Rose said. “She was a tough woman.”Rose said her mother loved her family and loved to cook.“She loved her Italian cooking, (especially) lasagna,” she said. “She loved her grandchildren.”Rose said her mom was a huge fan of “Jeopardy,” and enjoyed watching Newswatch 16 meteorologist Joe Snedeker.Perschy was a 1953 graduate of Palmerton Area High School.Rose recounted the last time she saw her mother.“I took her up food Tuesday night and a big piece of chocolate cake with peanut butter icing,” she said. “She loved her sweets, she was ecstatic about it.”“I never thought that would be my last hug and kiss from my mom.”Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are behind handled by the Campton Funeral Home, Palmerton.Her children request memorial contributions be made to any regional fire house.Her full obituary appears on Page 4.
