Fire police members sought in Lehighton

The Lehighton Borough Fire Police is in need of volunteers to serve the community.

Fire Police help maintain safety at emergency scenes by controlling traffic and alerting drivers to hazards as they approach the scene.In addition to being on scene for crashes and fires, the fire police serve as traffic control for community events.The borough has an increase in events, and is in need of additional volunteers to assist with managing safety in the community.Currently, there are 11 active volunteers.Training is provided at monthly meetings held at 7:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month at the Lehighton Fire Station, at 132 South Third St.No experience is necessary to apply for the fire police.Applications may be obtained at Lehighton Borough Hall, 1 Constitution Avenue, Lehighton.Those interested must be 18 years of age.
