St. Luke's Miners Campus will host a diabetes support group that meets every three months starting in March.
The group is designed to help patients dealing with diabetes, as well as their family and friends.Participants will learn about the causes and effects of the disease; ideas to increase self-help, problem solving and prevention measures; and provide encouragement when it comes to mutual problems and accomplishments. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 22 million Americans are living with diabetes, and that's just the number of people who have been diagnosed. Many others are borderline diabetics or haven't been diagnosed yet.No registration is required, but interested parties are advised to call ahead of time, at 570-645-8107, to confirm the session hasn't been postponed. The group will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. March 29, June 13 and Sept. 13 in the Miners Community Room at the hospital in Coaldale.
