Strong women program

Penn State Extension in Carbon County, co-sponsoring with Blue Mountain Health System, will be offering the StrongWomen/Growing Stronger Program, a six-week exercise program for middle-aged and older adults on Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 28 to May 4 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Country Inn and Suites, 1619 Interchange Road (Route 209) in Lehighton.

The program is a safe, effective strength-training and nutrition program for individuals who have been active or sedentary for the past few years and are interested in improving their health.The classes, which meet twice a week, consist of a nutrition lesson and eight to 12 exercises that help improve strength, balance and flexibility.Make a commitment to becoming healthier and feeling better about yourself so you can remain vital throughout your lifetime through healthy eating and exercise. Individuals who have participated in the program have become stronger, more active and energized.Adults 40 and older are invited to attend a free information session at 1 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Country Inn and Suites to learn more about the program.Light refreshments will be available.For more information, contact program facilitator, Keri Byrne, Penn State Extension at 570-325-2788 or email
