The West End Park and Open Space Commission and the Fleetwood Family announce applications are being taken for the David Fleetwood Memorial Scholarship.
Two scholarships will be awarded to students in the amount of $2,000 each.The scholarship is available to any 2017 graduate of Pleasant Valley High School.The recipient must properly complete an application and submit on or before the stated deadline; graduate from Pleasant Valley High School; have participated in interscholastic athletics while in high school; have service their community through performing community service activities; have displayed an interest in the outdoors; go to an accredited two or four year college and perform public service during the period of attendance; and be a full-time student (at least 12 credits) who maintains at least a 2.0 GPA during the period for which the scholarship is awarded.The scholarship will be provided in two equal installments: one installment will be a cash reward given at the time designated by the school district for such presentations and the other will be after the student has properly provided proof (an official transcript) of post-secondary school attendance, GPA and participated in community service (a letter from the public service organization) to the scholarship committee.The deadline for applications is April 15.The recipients will be chosen by a committee of the Fleetwood family and WEPOSC.Questions about the scholarship can be directed to WEPOSC at 570-992-9733 or
