This Friday evening folks in the Slatington Borough will have a chance to rub elbows with the supernatural in the public library.

The Main Street Merchant's Group will host its second annual First Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., when local businesses will be staying open past regular hours and offering unique activities to entice shoppers to the historic district.Starting at 6 p.m., Pennhurst Paranormal Investigators Jan and Randy Dice will search the 1897building for all things that go bump in the night.According to Alice Wanamaker, member relations liaison of the Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce, the investigators were contacted through a merchants group member to come and search for spirits. The duo's past investigations include Spring City's Pennhurst Asylum, a well-known hot spot for paranormal activity."We have always heard the library is haunted so we went ahead and booked them," Wanamaker said."They started in the loft where my office is and then walked over to a particular corner. They weren't sure what was going on there but they said they definitely want to put equipment there. They also noticed sounds on the second floor. On the third floor Randy said he "felt something, stuff is going on.' "Wanamaker said she was assured the activity wasn't hostile but the investigators felt confident the energy reading equipment would pick up something.Attendees will be broken up into groups after a presentation on the investigation company and a few haunting site stories from the Lehigh Valley. The teams will then be allowed to search for the paranormal on the three floors of the building."Normally, the public doesn't get to go up on the second and third floors," she said.Getting in on the spooky fun will be Eight Oaks Craft Distillery of New Tripoli.
