Former Schuylkill County Coroner Joseph Lipsett will become Rush Township’s police chief.

He was approved by the township supervisors as head of the Rush Township Police Department on Tuesday.Lipsett’s start date is Jan. 9.His annual salary will be $65,000.Lipsett is a retired state trooper with 31 years experience. He also served one term as county coroner and worked for the Schuylkill County District Attorney’s office.He is the department’s only full-time officer.
