Lehighton boys soccer, field hockey win

The Lehighton boys soccer team enjoyed a rout of North Schuylkill over the weekend, while the Indians' field hockey team blanked Dallas 2-0.

BOYS SOCCER

Lehighton-North Schuylkill

Lehighton rolled by North Schuylkill in Schuylkill League action, 9-2.

Patrick Lawler led Lehighton with two goals and an assist.

Isaiah Everett also added two goals for the Indians. Logan Lucas, Dan Sharp, Jake Petit-Clair, and Ben Mathisen all scored during the rout.

Blue Mountain-Jim Thorpe

Blue Mountain edged Jim Thorpe in overtime, 2-1.

Blue Mountain's Owen Oakley scored the game winner in the extra session.

Williams scored on a penalty kick for the Olympians.

Palmerton-No. Lehigh

Palmerton rolled by Northern Lehigh in a Colonial League battle, 6-1.

John Perloni had two goals to lead the Bombers. Brody Boehler, Jesse DeKorte, Jarrett Long, and Corlan Wood all scored during the win. Chris Fine scored for Northern Lehigh.

GIRLS SOCCER

Jim Thorpe-Weatherly

Jim Thorpe earned a 2-0 non-league win over Weatherly.

Brielle Long and Lydia Wallace did the scoring for the Olympians.

No. Lehigh-Lehighton

Northern Lehigh and Lehighton played to a 3-3 non-league draw on Saturday.

Thera Hibbler, Katie Aaron, and Ashley Marchessault all scored for the Tribe. Hibbler and Aaron each added assists.

Jillian Olewine scored two times for the Bulldogs, while Abby Merkle added a goal.

ES South-Pleasant Valley

Pleasant Valley blanked East Stroudsburg South in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference play, 2-0.

Jennifer Whyte and Morgan Covart both scored for the Bears. Danielle DiMarco and Teah Cardoza each had assists.

Nativity-Tamaqua

Tamaqua shut out Nativity in a non-league match, 5-0.

Sophia Boyle led the Raiders with two scored.

Angela Ceci, Kayla Sherry, and Alyssa Campomizi each added goals. Emma Kuczynski added a pair of assists.

FIELD HOCKEY

Dallas-Lehighton

Lehighton shut out Dallas in a non-league action, 2-0.

Lauren Marks and Maura Phelan scored for the Tribe. Michelle Bozilesky had five saves for the Indians.

Northwestern-Palmerton

Northwestern defeated Palmerton 2-1 in a Colonial League match.

Kailyn Kolnik scored the Bombers' goal.

TENNIS

Kutztown-Jim Thorpe

Kutztown swept Jim Thorpe, 5-0.

Jillian Siefert won No. 1 singles for Kutztown, 6-3, 6-0. Brianna Wendling followed in No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.

Pleasant Valley-Bangor

Bangor topped Pleasant Valley in a non-league contest, 4-3.

Masani Francis picked up a No. 1 singles win for the Bears over Bailey Andreeko. The two tandems of Rebecca Makrides and Alyssa Wagner, and Cambry Galler and Grace Ventuo were both victorious.

Williams Valley-Jim Thorpe

Jim Thorpe swept Williams Valley in non-league action, 25-4, 25-9, 25-8.

Kelsey Carrol paved the way for Thorpe (3-1) with six aces, five kills, and 16 assists. Mackenzie Rosenberger added nine kills.

Marian at

Garden Spot Tournament

Marian picked up a victory against Strath Haven at the Garden Spot Invitational Tournament. During the victory, Jasmine Mooney had 14 kills, five aces, and 11 digs, while Carly Kosciolek contributed nine kills and four blocks.

The Fillies went 2-6 on the afternoon, picking up another victory against Strath Haven. Parkland, Pope John Paul II, and Exeter each topped Marian.

Pleasant Valley

Tournament

Pleasant Valley finished second at the Pocono Classic.

The Bears picked up wins in pool play over Crestwood in pool play. In the playoffs, lower-seeded PV pulled an upset and picked up a win over Wyalusing 25-18, 25-22. The Bears fell to Mt. Olive in the finals.

Stat leaders for the day include Cameron Caffrey, who had 36 digs and 44 assists, while Renee Mapa had 22 kills and 10 blocks. Des Powell had 16 kills and 19 digs, while Ari Weaver dished out 25 assists and 13 kills.

CROSS COUNTRY

Tamaqua at

Lebanon Valley Invitational

Tamaqua participated in the Lebanon Valley Invitational over the weekend.

The girls' team finished in fourth place, with Sarah Maue coming in 10th. Brad Clemson led the boys' team with a 13th place finished, as the team came in 10th.
