Man offers to donate speed limit signs in Lehigh Twp.

During the public comment period at the end of the Nov. 22 meeting of the Lehigh Township supervisors, Ed Ziegler reminded supervisors he had asked about speed limit signs with a lower speed between Berlinsville and Walnutport.

Supervisors said it was not in this year's budget and would have to wait until money was available.Ziegler asked if the township would install signs if he bought them. Supervisors said they would.The signs cost $2,500 and must meet state standards.The final highway occupancy plans have been submitted for the Cherryville intersection.Hanover Engineering has been named to the zoning officer position.The short-term rental ordinance has been tabled. It covers such things as hotels and bed-and-breakfasts.The Lehigh Valley Planning Commission reviewed the right of way ordinance and said it should be kept separate and not part of zoning.The municipal authority wants to sell the old wellhouse property. It is 1.31 acres and has a stream and it was being offered to the township.Both Snover and Supervisor Keith Hantz said it is not big enough for any practical use.Northwoods major subdivision received approval of an extension until March 31, 2017. Supervisor Darryl Snover asked if there had been any action before the request was approved.The Walmart land development plan also received approval until March 31.Supervisor Cindy Miller said a submission has been made to the township and to the Walnutport Water Authority.Mark Wagner of Grace Estates said his engineer is not quite done with placing pins. He emailed township manager Alice Rehrig that he hopes to have work finished the following week and have the required letters of credit by the first meeting in December.
