Woman charged with beating, stabbing fiance in arm with pen

A Lehigh County woman faces charges after she stabbed her fiance with a pen during an argument Wednesday.

Sherry Monk, 26, of Slatington, has been charged with simple assault, harassment and terroristic threats.According to the affidavit filed by Sgt. David Alercia of the Slatington Police Department:At 7:24 p.m., patrolman William Borst, Joseph Britt and Alercia were dispatched to the 300 block of W. Church Street for a reported stabbing.The victim, Brett Krotzer was in the apartment, but Monk was no longer on scene.Krotzer had a small superficial puncture wound to his left arm near his bicep. His shirt was torn half off his body, and he had marks on his head and body. He was brought outside to EMS personnel.Krotzer said that Monk, his fiance, threatened to stab him, and that he was stabbed in the arm with what turned out to be possibly a pen.He said that Monk grabbed him and beat him up, striking him in the body and face, and that she tore his shirt.Monk was taken into custody. She admitted grabbing and hitting Krotzer, and that she also threatened to stab him, but that she then blacked out, going crazy.Monk was sent to Lehigh County Jail on $5,000 bail, 10 percent.She is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 2:15 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Lehigh County Courthouse in Allentown.
