Golden AgersForty-one members of the Panther Valley Golden Agers attended the indoor picnic. Everyone who attended brought a food item to enjoy. The picnic was a success, and thanks to leaders Mary Ann Yusella and Violet McHugh. The Chinese auction run by Mary Biddle, Norma Lee Burke and Ruth Ann Feane was a success. All gift items were donated.The next meeting will be at 1 p.m. Mondayat St. John's Slovak Lutheran Church Social Hall. All are asked to dress up for the Halloween affair. Everyone participating will receive a gift. Bingo will be played after the meeting.CoaldaleBasket socialFirst Congregational Church on Ruddle Street in Coaldale is holding a basket social Nov. 5. Doors open at noon. The drawing is at 3 p.m. You do not have to be present to win. Proceeds benefit the church.Veterans DayFirst Congregational Church is holding a Veterans Day service at 8:45 a.m. Nov. 13. Social hour will follow the service. All veterans and families are welcome.NesquehoningHistorical societyThe October meeting of the Nesquehoning Historical Society will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesdayat the borough hall, 114 W. Catawissa St.The group will be sharing memories from a recent bus trip to Gettysburg.There were a total of 25 people whovisited various sites at the Gettysburg National Battlefield.The society's new slate of officers and board members will also be presented at Tuesday's meeting. The nominating committees for the officers and board are reminded to have their names ready for official nominations. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor.There will be a new episode of "What Is It?" in which the group looks at unusual antiques and tries to guess what they were used for.Everyone is invited.
