A Weissport man was sentenced to time-served in a drug dealing case while two other defendants, all who previously pleaded guilty, were sentenced Monday by Carbon County Judge Joseph J. Matika.

Steven Michael Mika, 31, had pleaded to one count of criminal use of a communication device. He was arrested on Oct. 15, 2014, following an ongoing drug-dealing investigation, which led to a controlled buy set up by Mahoning Township police involving a confidential informant. The drug transaction occurred along Second Street in Lehighton involving heroin and Mika making the sale.Mika admitted to a history of drug use and claimed he is getting help through counseling.Matika sentenced him to time-served (236 days) to one day less 24 months in prison and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use and render 50 hours of community service.Julie A. Herman, 29, of East Stroudsburg, was placed on probation for two years on charges of criminal trespass and receiving stolen property.She was arrested on Oct. 11, 2015, by Lansford Police. Items taken included a 50-inch television, laptop computer, train set and other household items.Herman told Matika she spent 30 days in a inpatient rehabilitation program for heroin abuse."I made a mistake," she told the court.She was also ordered to render 100 hours of community service, get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, supply a DNA sample, and have no contact with the victim.Andrew G. Hanna,29, of Palmer Township, was placed in the county's Intermediate Punishment Program - house arrest - for two years on one count of theft of services.He was charged by Palmerton Police for an incident at the Palmerton Hospital on Jan. 29, 2013, He appeared at the hospital for treatment and gave a false name and Social Security number to obtain a painkiller Percocet. Police said he did it to avoid paying the bill for services provided.The IPP placement, which will be handled by Northampton County, includes having Hanna wear a monitor for the first six months of the program. He was also ordered to render 100 hours of community service, get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations and make restitution to Blue Mountain Health Systems for $716.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
