Jim Thorpe man charged with sexual assault

More charges have been filed against a Jim Thorpe man who was previously charged with the sexual assault of a juvenile.

State police at Lehighton said Kevin William Gowrie, 42, has been charged as the result of an investigation into the sexual assault of a 16-year-old juvenile. The alleged assaults occurred in Penn Forest Township on Friday, Sept. 2. Troopers said Gowrie provided vodka to the teen and then performed sexual acts on the victim.Troopers said they attempted to interview Gowrie at the county prison in Nesquehoning, where he is an inmate, but he refused to talk to them.Kevin William Gowrie ofJim Thorpe was charged Wednesday with sexual assault of a 12-year-old boy. On his way into the district court, the Jim Thorpe man responded to all questions with "no comment."Gowrie, an employee of Jim Thorpe Market, has lived at his residence with his wife and two children, ages 10 and 5, for the past three years.Detective Lee Marzen of the Jim Thorpe Police Department first received a ChildLine report of sexual assault on a child on Sept. 7, when it was reported that a 12-year-old boy had been assaulted by a 42-year-old man, identified as Kevin Gowrie. Marzen spoke with the child's mother, and she agreed to a forensic interview at the Children's Advocacy Center of Scranton, which took place on Monday.Cheryl A. Friedmanm, CRNP, performed a medical exam on the child, and said that the child disclosed that Gowrie had sexually assaulted him.The boy reported that he was at Gowrie's home on at least four occasions, and had been assaulted numerous times on each occasion. Gowrie threatened to hurt or kill the boy, according to the affidavit, telling him, "I know where you live, I know where you sleep."
