Thousands expected at public memorial for Arnold Palmer

LATROBE, Pa. (AP) - Jack Nicklaus and Annika Sorenstam are expected to address an overflow crowd of several thousand people who will gather Tuesday for a public memorial service to Arnold Palmer.

The service is being held at the St. Vincent Basilica in Unity not far from the Latrobe golf course where Palmer learned the game. He died Sept. 25 at age 87.There will be no seating for the general public at the basilica, which is on the campus of St. Vincent College.Instead, the public can watch the service on video screens at the Robert S. Carey Student Center's gymnasium, performing arts center and student center and Chuck Noll Stadium, where the Pittsburgh Steelers hold training camp.
