Schuylkill judge revokes parole

Schuylkill County court Judge James P. Goodman has revoked the parole of a Tamaqua man.

Joel T. Vermillion, 26, had been on parole after Tamaqua police charged him with two counts of manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance; criminal use of a communication facility, and having a controlled substance he was not authorized to have on Aug. 13, 2014.He was sentenced on Sept. 23, 2015 to 62 days to 23 months in jail on one count of manufacture or delivery. The remaining charges had been dropped.Rush Township police charged him with retail theft and receiving stolen property after a June 17 incident. Prosecutors moved to revoke parole on Aug. 12.Goodman had Vermillion jailed in the county prison, with no credit for his 307 days of freedom. His new maximum date is April 26, 2018.He was given credit for 37 days he's served in jail. He'll be able to apply for parole again on Oct. 27.Goodman also ordered Vermillion to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation, and to comply with any recommended treatment.
