Three traffic stops result in DUI arrests in Carbon

State police at the Lehighton barracks made three traffic stops in Carbon County that resulted in the drivers of the vehicles being arrested for driving under the influence.

The initial stop was made at 3:44 a.m. Sundayalong Trachsville Hill Road, south of Route 209 in Towamensing Township.Police said the driver of the vehicle was a 26-year-old man from Lehighton who was stopped after he made traffic violations.Police said after it was determined he was under the influence, he was given a breath test, which showed a 0.116 percent BAC.The second and third stops were both made on Route 248, one at 10:04 p.m. Thursdayin the area of the eastbound Palmerton exit.In that incident, police said a 54-year-old Walnutport female, driving a Nissan SUV, was stopped for a traffic violation, after which time the officer learned she was under the influence.She was taken for a breath test. No results were reported, although police said the charges will be filed in district court.In the third stop, police pulled over a 24-year-old man from Palmerton for a Motor Vehicle Code violation when he was eastbound in Bowmanstown, after which time it was discovered he was driving while under the influence of a controlled substance.Police said he was taken for a blood test and the charges will be filed in the district court pending laboratory results.The identities of the people involved in the arrests have not been released by state police.
