Driver flown from West Penn crash

A driver was seriously injured Monday evening in a crash along Route 443 in West Penn Township.

The crash occurred at 5:30 p.m., about a half mile east of Route 309.According to police, the victim was traveling east in a pickup truck, being followed by several vehicles.When the group entered a passing zone several of the motorists began to pass.As the vehicles approached the victim he made a sudden left turn onto into a private driveway and into the path of the passing vehicles.A late model pickup truck struck the victim at the driver’s side.The victim was extricated from the wreckage by members of the West Penn Fire Company No. 1 and flown by MedEvac helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Allentown.
