Lansford is cracking down on neglected swimming pools, overgrown yards.
Borough Code Compliance Officer Stephen Meylach of Lehigh Valley Inspection Services, has received many complaints about neglected swimming pools in recent months.Meylach reported that those residents who choose to neglect their swimming pools will be cited for creating a public nuisance and creating unsanitary conditions and shall be cited under the Lansford Quality of Life Ordinance 2013-01.Consequently, those who violate the ordinance shall be fined and if necessary taken in front of the district magistrate.Additionally, many complaints about high grass, weeds and vegetation overgrowth have been received at the borough office and property owners are being cited.Grass and weeds may not exceed 10 inches in height.Garbage, waterResidents are reminded that garbage should be put out no more than 24 hours before collection.Garbage collection on Labor Day week will be pushed back one day.Water shut-off letters for past due sewage transmission accounts will be mailed this week. The borough will turn off water service at delinquent properties on Sept. 13.Payments, by cash, check or money order are accepted at the borough office weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.Anyone with questions about the balance of their bill may contact the office at 570-645-3900 or email
