Schuylkill man among 12 involved in Lehigh pileup

A Schuylkill County driver was among 12 drivers involved in a pileup along Interstate 78 in Salisbury Township, Lehigh County, at 1:33 p.m. on June 16.

State police at Fogelsville said the chain-reaction crashes began when John Toney, 73, of Woodland, California, was driving a 1998 Porsche Boxster eastbound when he lost control.The Porsche hit the right concrete barrier then struck a 2016 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by Bryant Watson, 54, of Key West, Florida.Troopers said because of where the Porsche landed, a series of collisions occurred involving 10 more vehicles.Among those involved was James V. Ryan Jr., 75, of Pottsville with passengers James V. Ryan III, 50, of Pottsville, and Robert J. McDonald, 63, of Minersville. None of them were injured. Two people were injured in the pileup, none seriously.
