Carbon County officials reappointed four people to serve on its Children and Youth Advisory Board.
Elaine J. Koons of Lehighton, Diane B. Luedtke of Jim Thorpe, David F. McAndrew Jr. of Summit Hill and Kathleen Schwick of Lehighton were approved to serve three-year terms to May 1, 2019.PersonnelThe commissioners approved the following personnel moves:• Resignation: Kasey M. Herman of Jim Thorpe, lifeguard, effective Aug. 18.• Zachary G. Gilbert of Lansford, lifeguard, effective July 22.• Court appointment: Ali McCall Young of New London, Connecticut, law clerk (temporarily), court administration, effective Aug. 15.Other businessIn other matters, the commissioners acted on the following items:• Approve an agreement with Behavioral Interventions Inc. for electronic monitoring services for the Adult Probation office. The agreement for daily monitoring services for offenders placed in the electronic monitoring program will include a $1.80 per unit per active day fee, which is a decrease from $1.92 per day.• Award ARC Electric Construction Company of West Hazleton with the electrical and fire alarm system upgrade at the Old Mauch Chunk Train Station in Jim Thorpe. The company submitted the apparent low bid of $21,300.• Approve three agreements for professional services as conflict counsel in criminal and juvenile matters pending before the Carbon County Court of Common Pleas. The agreement, effective Sept. 1 through Aug. 31, 2017, is with attorneys Robert S. Frycklund of Summit Hill, Adam Weaver of Summit Hill and Strubinger Law PC of Palmerton. The cost per agreement is $37,500, paid monthly, plus reimbursement of expenses for photocopies, postage and required mileage outside of the county, with a total number of 60 cases/offenders/assignments allotted.• Approve an agreement of sale with the Pennsylvania Development and Management Corporation of Lehighton for the purchase of property at 1500 Evergreen Ave., Weatherly, for the consideration of $1. The property was previously leased to Weatherly Housing Associates LP for the Evergreen Apartments.
