The 33rd Annual Schuylkill County Fair has "good things growing" and will begin Monday. The Schuylkill County Fairgrounds located at 2270 Fair Road, Schuylkill Haven, will be open through Aug. 6.

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday the fair will open at 4 p.m., with opening at 11 a.m. Tuesday and Saturday.Schuylkill County Fair will have a gate admission of $5, which includes family entertainment, games, contests, exhibits, competitions, programs, demonstrations, activities and free parking. Children 12 and under are admitted free.Returning to the six-day fair will be Goodtime Amusements of Hellertown.Goodtime provides up to 20 rides along with 15 food and game concessions..Events Monday include a rabbit show; hog show; Queen, Princess, and Little Miss contest; the Schuylkill Showstoppers; drag racing; gas and diesel truck pull; and dairy and horse judging.Tuesday is kid-themed, with the alpaca and sheep show, showing of breeding and market animals, a campfire with Big Owl to learn about Native American lore, and a scavenger hunt with Farmer Fair to find animals in his barnyard.A Kids Tent will be open with contests, including musical hay bale, frozen T-shirt and cupcake challenge. Crazy Hearts will be performing on the M&T stage at 7 and 9 p.m.On Wednesday events include an ethnic cooking contest, a boilo competition and foods grown in Schuylkill County.Games include Family Feud, Adult Milk (mustache), chugging and apple pie (in your face) eating contests along with adult wet sponge relay and sack race, and celebrity tractor pull on the track.Mrs. U. Zoo Revue will teach about animals found hiding in nature.On Thursday, the 4-H and FFA will offer dairy exhibitors.The James S. Shadle Nature Center will offer many of the new exhibits featuring plants, animals, geology and natural history of the area. The Nature Center will be set up with a number of interactive nature learning stations. Some of the stations include an earth bracelet, edible soil activity, air pressure, and more.The Agricultural Museum at the Fair will offer agricultural equipment operation demonstration, self-guided tours and antique farm machinery. A chalkboard at the museum welcome area lists the schedule of the day's events including saw milling demonstrations.For all ages, there are Dialed BMX Stunt Shows.The Farming for the Day has added new activities. In the tent this year there are stations where all ages can make a pasta bracelet, visit the corn grinding station where children may grind corn into cornmeal and wheat into flour, and see drone bees making honey.The hands-on activity centers returning from last year include picking apples and gathering eggs from nesting boxes.The 32nd annual 4-H and FFA Livestock sale will be held on Thursday evening.Entertainment includes: Torres Family Circus daily at 6 and 8 p.m. at the Amphitheater; Peggy Hentz "Red Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation Center" at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday; LA Dance Theatre at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. Monday; Farming for a Day open daily, with Todd Gladfelde, chain saw artist at 5:50 p.m.Other daily events will include tractor parade at 4:30 p.m. daily and Trout Unlimited demonstrations.Musical acts of the week: Monday, The Schuylkill Showstoppers at 8 p.m.; Tuesday, the Crazy Hearts at 7 and 9 p.m.; Wednesday, The Jesse Wade Gang at 7 and 9 p.m.; Thursday, Shawn Klush at 7 and 9 p.m.; Friday, Little Texas at 9 p.m., Chad Reinert at 6 p.m.; Saturday, David Cassidy at 9 p.m. and Rusty Foulke at 7 p.m.
